Sorsogon Rep. Evelina Escudero wants more disaster-resilient classroom buildings

Sorsogon Rep. Evelina Escudero knows what the classrooms of the future should be like.

Escudero joined the inauguration and turn over of the modified standard classroom building for Ticol Elementary School that was built by the government.

In a Facebook post, Escudero said this features advanced architecture that allows the building to withstand strong winds and major earthquakes.

She noted that Sorsogon is vulnerable to typhoons, flooding, and storm surges, which is why its infrastructure should be able to weather potential hazards.

She hopes to build more classrooms like this in the future, she said.

Say hello to the new standard!

“Inauguration and turn over of the Modified Standard DPWH-DepEd 3-storey, 6-classroom building for Ticol Elementary School.

The building features a more advanced architecture designed to withstand strong winds and major earthquakes.

Our province, as we all know, is highly vulnerable to extreme weather events as typhoons, flooding, and storm surges; building climate-resilient infrastructures will certainly protect us from numerous potential hazards, and so we are looking forward to building more of these in the future!” Escudero posted.
