Rep. Tonton Kho graces distribution of machineries to farmers, coops
Masbate Rep. Wilton Kho has attended the distribution of farm machineries to local farmers and cooperatives in the province.
“Agriculture has a pivotal role in economic development of all developing countries like the Philippines. Its daunting task is to produce supplies for food while creating opportunities for employment,” said the lawmaker.
“Since Masbate province is blessed with rich and diverse land, farming has been one of the major agricultural activities that people of Masbate benefit from,” he added.
Being an agricultural province, Kho said that Masbatenos farmers deserve to have a more improved farming experience to sustain their families and contribute to our country’s economic growth.
“Through the help of our dear President Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Cynthia Villar in cooperation with PhilMECH and Department of Agriculture, a turnover of rice farm machineries such as walk-behind transplanters, rice combine harvesters four wheel tractors and many more was done to help our rice farmers produce better yields,” said Kho.
The machinery distribution was made possible under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Program.
Aside from Rep. Kho, also in attendance was Rep. Olga Kho of the 2nd District.
“These farm machineries were given to different Agricultural Cooperatives of Masbate that were well-represented by their respective leaders. Our rice farmers are expected to take good care of these machineries to rack up their farming production and improve income inspite of liberalization of rice trade. Truly, our government really does everything to help our people amidst pandemic,” said the solon.
