Palawan opens its first ever mental health clinic, drug recovery and wellness center
The Palawan provincial government announced that the first-ever Mental Health Clinic and Palawan Drug Recovery and Wellness Center located in Narra town are now ready to serve the public.
Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez, Narra Acting Mayor Crispin Lumba Jr, Dra. Arlin Josue of Narra Municipal Hospital, and representatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and PNP graced the inauguration and the blessing of the said institutions.
“Napakaganda ng ating pasilidad, kaya naman bago matapos ang taon, karagdagang lima (5) pa ang gagawin natin na katulad nito, sa Quezon Medicare [Hospital], Aborlan Medicare Hospital, sa [SPPH] Brooke’s Point, Roxas Medicare Hospital at sa new NPPH sa Taytay…”, said Alvarez.
Among the services being offered in the said facilities are Medical Service, Psychiatric Service, Psychological/Social Service, Spiritual and Religious Service, Sports and Recreation Service for out-patients.
“Maswerte ang bayan ng Narra dahil ito ang napiling pilot site ng Provincial Government, kaya kaakibat nito [ay] taos puso ang aming pasasalamat sa mga pasilidad na ito, magiging regular na ang mga psychological assessment para sa lahat,” said acting Mayor Lumba.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office stressed the importance of focusing on one’s mental health at the time of the pandemic.
“A lot of people ang nangangailangan ng ganitong institution… Maraming tao ang nangangailangan ng tulong [para sa mental health] dahil importante ito lalo na ngayong mayroong COVID pandemic,” said acting PHO Dr. Faye Erika Labrador.
