COVID-19 cases in Bicol Region reach 4,240

Nineteen new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Bicol Region as of January 26, the Department of Health Center for Health and Development announced.

The new cases pushed the total number to 4,240. Active cases are now 649.

The distribution of n new cases:
CAM SUR: 13 (68.42%)
5 – Sipocot
3 – Lagonoy
2 – Naga City
2 – Pamplona
1 – Canaman
CATANDUANES: 2 (10.53%)
1 – Bato
1 – Virac
SORSOGON: 4 (21.05%)
4 – Sorsogon City

The DOH said that details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

The DOH also reported 20 new recoveries. Total recoveries now stood at 3,418. Death toll due to the viral illness remains 173.

The DOH appealed to Bicolanos to strictly follow health protocols to prevent the further spread of the virus.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” the DOH said.
