Bicol’s COVID-19 cases surge past 4,000th mark

The coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region have surged past the 4,000th mark as of January 16.

The Department of Health Center for Health Development-Bicol reported 60 new cases as of yesterday pushing the region’s total to 4,044.

Active cases are now 614.

CAM SUR: 13 (21.67%)
4 – San Jose
3- Naga City
2 – Nabua

1 – Ragay

MASBATE: 35 (58.33%)
18 – Aroroy
7 – Balud
4 – Uson
3 – Cataingan
3 – Masbate City

SORSOGON: 5 (8.33%)
4 – Matnog
1 – Sorsogon City

OTHERS: 1 (1.67%)
1 – Cavite City

The DOH said that the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

Five new patients recovered from the viral illness. Total number of recoveries is now 3,264.

On the other hand, total death toll due to coronavirus disease in Bicol stood at 166.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” the DOH said.
