Gov. Escudero orders distribution of relief aid to flood-hit families in several Sorsogon towns
Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero ordered the distribution of relief assistance to families affected by flooding in several towns.
Around 200 individuals have been affected by the flooding brought by the tail-end of a frontal system in Prieto Diaz, Gubat, Barcelona, Casiguran, Irosin and Matnog.
“Inatasan ni Governor Chiz Escudero ang Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) na mamahagi ng tatlong daan na mga DSWD foodpack boxes sa mga pamilyang apektado ng matinding pagbaha sa mga bayan ng Prieto Diaz, Gubat, Barcelona, Casiguran, Irosin at Matnog,” the Capitol said.
“Tinatayang 57 pamilya o humigit kumulang dalawang daang indibidwal ang kasalukuyan namang nasa mga evacuation centers sa mga bayan ng Prieto Diaz, Gubat at Sorsogon City dahil sa dalawang araw na patuloy na pagbuhos ng ulan sa buong lalawigan,” it added.
In another related development, the Malacanang said that government continues to provide assistance to families affected by the flooding incidents brought by the tail-end of a frontal system experienced in Region V and Region VI.
A total of P1,584,850.00 worth of assistance has been provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, local government units and private partners to affected families, as of January 7, 2021.
