Palawan beefing up its measures against new coronavirus variant
The Palawan’s Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19 is stepping up its measures against the reported more contagious strain of coronavirus disease 2019.
As such, the task force is now monitoring the southern part of Palawan to ensure that the new strain won’t reach the province.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has also sent three teams to Balabac for monitoring, PDRRMO Jeremias Y. Alili earlier told the Joint Provincial Task Force recently.
“Basically ang gagawin namin is to have a meeting with barangay officials and to informed them of this new strain [ng covid-19] na kailangan natin bantayan, they really need to guard their post dahil kapag yan ay nakapasok sa mga komunidad sa lalawigan ay malamang na magpatupad tayo ng strict quarantine protocols like ECQ” said PDRRMO Alili.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier said that the new variant of COVID-19 has already been recorded in Sabah, Malaysia.
Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez earlier ordered the strict monitoring by the concerned agencies to ensure that Palawan will be free from the new variat.
Aside from the PDRRMO, other agencies leading the charge is the Covid Shield of the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force, composed of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Western Command among others.
