Rep. Kho announces cancellation of Masbate’s fishing tournament
Masbate Rep. Wilton Kho announced that his first ever fishing competition will be cancelled, no thanks to the threats of coronavirus disease.
The lawmaker said that the cancellation is pursuant to the guidelines of the the Inter-Agency Task Force on coronavirus disease.
“This is to inform all our registered participants and to the future spectators of the tournament that it is hereby cancelled,” said Rep. Kho.
“We have decided to revoke this event in order to adhere to the IATF guidelines which is to avoid social gatherings, parties, and the like,” it added.
The lawmaker said that due to the current situation in country as well as the continued increase of COVID-19 cases, “we need to protect ourselves by following basic health protocols such as wearing of facemasks, faceshields and sanitizing our hands.”
“Being in a crowded place might give you the probability of catching the virus so we need to be safe than sorry. It may really sound cliche but prevention is better than cure,” said Rep. Kho.
He said those who already sent their registration fee of P1, 000.00 may still claim it at their respective remittance centers since his staff didn’t withdraw it yet.
“We are really sorry about this sudden cancellation. Rest assured that this event is still on the list of activities we are going to achieve in the future when everything goes back to normal. Fish on, anglers,” Kho said.
