Velasco meets with MARELCO officials to ensure power supply in Marinduque


House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco held a meeting with the Marinduque Electric Cooperative (MARELCO) to ensure the stable power supply in his province.

Velasco met with the officials MARELCO, led by General Manager Gaudencio Sol, to discuss power utilities damaged by recent typhoons.

“During the meeting held at the provincial capitol on Thursday, Speaker Velasco assured MARELCO that he will coordinate with the Energy Regulatory Commission for the resolution of its pending Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) application,” the Office of the House Speaker said.

“Such assistance is necessary to rehabilitate the damaged facilities and ensure sufficient and stable power supply for the Province of Marinduque,” it added.

Meanwhile, Velasco also met with meets with Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Marinduque Division Chief Judy Pingco at the provincial capital on Thursday talk about the status of the coconut industry in the province and the proposed legislation creating a trust fund for coconut farmers.

Meanwhile, the Speaker was invited by Pingco to the 1st Virtual Coconut Industry Stakeholders’ Forum happening on Dec. 16.

“The Coconut Levy Trust Fund Bill is one of the priority measures of the House of Representatives, and Speaker Velasco expects its approval on third and final reading before Congress adjourns session this December,” the lawmaker’s office said.
