VG Lagman says he’ll always support activities of Albay provincial library

Vice Governor Edcel Grex Lagman said that he will always support the Albay Provincial Library and Information Center (APLIC), which is under the Office the Vice Governor.

“I owe to my late mother, Ma. Cielo Almojuela Burce-Lagman, my love affair with books that started at a very young age,” the Vice Governor said.

“She left us, her children, with an extensive book collection even as many good memories were borne out of the only ‘furniture of note’ in our old Parañaque house—-a massive bookcase measuring more or less 8 feet by 15 feet,” he added.

Lagman said that the PLIC sponsored a Poster Making Contest for elementary and junior high school students.

“I was happy to have been one of the judges. The same was in support of the 30th Library and Information Services Month and the 86th National Book Week,” he added.

The event caried the theme, “Libraries as Catalysts in the New Normal Environment: Changes, Reforms and Transformations”.

“I hope all the vice-mayors of all the Sangguniang Bayans and Panlungsods in Albay also support their respective libraries. Rep. Edcel Lagman has an enduring commitment, in partnership with Children International, to donate books to all public libraries and reading centers in Albay on a yearly basis,” said the Vice Governor.

“Advocating an honest-to-goodness reading culture will always be a worthwhile endeavor beneficial to all Albayanos. This is especially true in the backdrop of the last two decades which saw a worrisome decline in reading among milllennials,” he added.
