Masbate City gov’t urges Masbateños to follow health protocols amid rising COVID-19 cases

The City Government of Masbate has urged Masbateños to strictly follow the health protocols amid the alarming increase of coronavirus cases in the city.

The local government admitted that these past days “shocked” them with the increase in number of Covid-19 positive cases in Masbate City.

“Inasmuch as we are doing our best to care for those who are now in our quarantine and isolation facilities to arrest the spread of the virus and those who have tested positive for Rapid Antigen Swab Test, the least we can do to our general public is to advise them of the precautionary health protocols to save themselves from contracting this deadly virus,” the city government said.

“While we can not rule out that these recent cases may have been through local transmission, WE CAN NOT DECLARE IT not unless the Department of Health, through the Provincial IATF, OFFICIAL PRONOUNCE IT,” it added.

Nonetheless, the local government assured that the City Health Office frontliners and the Contact Tracer Teams are “religously doing the rounds to identify those who may have been in close contact with these Covid-19 virus carriers to monitor them, on a daily basis, to prevent the virus from spreading.”

“Rest assured that the
City Government, through our frontliners, are doing their best for the SAFETY OF EVERYONE,” it added.

The local government also asked the Masbateños to do the following:

1. Regular washing of hands by using soap, alcohol or sanitizer;
2. Wear facemask and faceshield whenever you are outside of your homes or travelling;
3. Avoid close contact with anybody by way of physical distancing;
4. Practice proper hygiene at all times, and
5. Avoid touching MEN – your Mouth, Eyes and Nose.
