No more muting! Oriental Mindoro Board Member Mikan Leachon says President’s order to House members is clear
There should be no doubt about the instructions this time.
Oriental Mindoro Board Member Mikan Leachon has weighed in on the controversy in the House of Representatives stemming from the earlier suspension of the session without passing the budget on third reading.
In a Facebook post, Leachon said President Duterte’s order to Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano was clear, and that is to reopen Congress to its members.
Leachon said part of this is making sure the plenary hall is safe and secure and follows health protocols aid down by the government.
If the lawmakers are present, they would be able to participate meaningfully in the budget process, and the spending bill would not be left in the hands of a few, he said.
Let’s hope the Speaker knows how to follow instructions!
“President Duterte’s marching orders to Speaker Cayetano is clear: reopen Congress to its members. This also means securing a safe and secure plenary hall in accordance with the health protocols set out by the IATF and the Department of Health.
The attendance of all lawmakers will enable them to meaningfully participate in the entire budget process and preparation, just like what the President wants, and not just to a small committee of hand-picked friends,” Leachon posted.
