Charity begins at home! VP Robredo’s office holds online auction to help staff

The Office of the Vice President has been helping a lot of people amid the pandemic, but its own staff members need assistance as well, especially for the education of their children.

But the OVP doesn’t want to dip into the items donated to the office, so the staff members held a fundraising among themselves to help their utility personnel who would need gadgets for their children’s schooling.

In a Facebook post, Vice President Leni Robredo shared that her office’s internal fund raising consisted of an online game and auction night.

It turned into a fun-filled, four hour event that was also very successful as they hit 153 percent of their initial target, she said.

The funds raised would be used for gadgets for the children of our utility personnel.

Robredo praised her creative staff for this endeavor and thanked them for all their work.

Truly, charity begins at home!

“Just concluded a most successful Game and Auction Night with the OVP Family on zoom.

When we were doing our Gadget Donation Drive, we realized belatedly that some of our staff, particularly our utility personnel, might also be needing gadgets for their children.

We did an internal survey which confirmed our belief. We did not want to appropriate for our staff the gadgets donated to us as they are intended to be given away to students most in need. So, we planned to do an internal fund raising specifically for this purpose.

The good thing about having young people in our midst is that, with them, the possibilities are endless. They thought about this Game and Auction Night where we will be auctioning off items donated by members of the staff.

What happened was an almost 4-hour event tonight. Puno ng saya at kantiyawan!! In the end, we were able to hit 153% of our initial target!! That translates to the much needed gadgets for the children of our utility personnel.

Thank you, guys!!! Galing niyo!! Super duper proud of all of you,” Robredo posted.
