The country’s health workers were right in asking for a stricter lockdown as it seems to have worked, according to Vice President Leni Robredo.
In a Facebook post, Robredo said the country’s numbers give her hope as the cases being reported per day have gone down to more than 1,000 from almost 7,000.
She also said the positivity rate was just over 10 percent from more than 12 percent.
But this is far from the target of less than 5 percent, so we need to do more to keep cases down, she said.
We could do it as long as we work together, she added.
She is hoping the downward trend in the COVID 19 would continue so that the economy would recover.
She may be hopeful, but she sees no reason to relax and let our guard down!
“The numbers today, while still high, give us reason to hope.
Our medical experts were right to demand for a two-week MECQ. We’re seeing the fruits of that now. From record-breaking numbers in August when we saw as high as almost 7,000 positive cases in a day, we’re down to more than a thousand a day. Let’s hope we further push these numbers down.
From a positivity rate of more than 12%, we are down to just over 10% the past week. This is still way over the WHO target of less than 5%, so we need to keep working on it. New York is doing 100,000 tests a day and their positivity rate is less than 1%. Kaya din natin maabot ito basta magtulong tulong tayo.
Let’s hope that our numbers in the next few weeks or so will continue to drop para naman kahit papaano, unti unti nang bumalik yung sigla ng ating ekonomiya.
While the numbers give us hope, this is no time to relax or be complacent. Let us continue observing the strictest health and safety protocols. Let us also pray fervently that all who are sick and those afflicted by the virus will get well soon and that our frontliners will be cloaked in the mantle of protection.
Kaya natin to????,” Robredo posted.
