LEGAZPI CITY – Another hotel in this city has been approved by the Department of Health (DOH) regional office for Bicol to be used as a community isolation center.
Mayor Noel E. Rosal, in an interview on Tuesday, said the DOH Center for Health Development-Bicol has issued a certification for the use of Jennifer’s Kababayan Hotel in accommodating asymptomatic and mild coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in this city.
He said one of the officers of the agency has explained all the safety precautions and measures to all the council members of Barangay 15 where the hotel is located during the Information, Education and Communication meeting.
Rosal said use of Jennifer’s Hotel is crucial at this time considering the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) here is only accepting moderate and severe Covid-19 cases.
“The two-storey Jennifer’s Hotel would accommodate at least 50 to 60 Covid-19 patients,” the mayor said.
The Rawis Pension House here was also opened last month as an isolation center, accommodating 20 to 30 patients.
“We are using some hotels here in Legazpi in preparation for possible increase of Covid-19 cases in the community. Presently, we have 44 individual rooms facilities inside the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation. But we are also constructing additional isolation rooms to increase the number in preparation for the locally stranded individuals coming from Metro Manila and other parts of the country entering Legazpi City,” Rosal said.
