CamSur Rep. Villafuerte wants House inquiry on ‘inadequacies’ of govt’s COVID-19 response
Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte wants to probe the supposed “inadequacies” of the government’s response to the coronavirus disease pandemic.
Villafuerte was one of the House leaders who filed House Resolution 1096 seeking to conduct an investigation on the said inadequacies.
Other authors of the resolution were House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez.
He said that the resolution is about “giving back to our dedicated frontliners” by also protecting them in the battlefield against this COVID19.
“Our health care workers are complaining about lack of support for them despite the tremendous health risks they face daily to care for infected patients,” said Villafuerte.
“We heard about the story of a nurse who died recently without her hazard pay, stories of discrimination, lack in personal protective equipment and others,” he note.
The CamSur solon also said that LGUs should align policies and ordinances to simplify and make consistent their protocols in dealing with the needs of health personnel.
Villafuerte also said that they understand the concerns of the health frontliners and said that the government should “continuously improve their services to fill in the present gaps.”
