Albay VG Lagman hails Pinoys who decided to undergo voluntary ECQ

Albay Vice Governor Edcel Grex Lagman said that he’s happy that more Filipinos decided to practice “voluntary” enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to help the frontliners.

“Happy that many netizens are practicing active citizenry by deciding to spend the next two (2) weeks on VOLUNTARY ECQ mode,” he said.

“This act is so empowering. It’s giving power back to the people. I am hopeful that this 2 week break on voluntary ECQ mode—-especially if those who committed to undertake the same actually follow through—-would be enough to do right by our health frontliners and save our overwhelmed health system,” he added.

Last Saturday, the medical community asked for a “timeout” and urged the government to recalibrate and reorganize the country’s COVID-19 strategies.

“Because of this mini socio-political movement, many of us will soon realize that the saying “if you want to do something right, do it yourself” is true. I hope we can build on this for situations in the future where citizens decide on what’s right and just—-and act accordingly. Because if institutions have seemingly failed us, we can’t possibly afford to fail ourselves as well,” said Lagman.

On Sunday night , President Duterte placed Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan under modified ECQ following the appeal of the health workers.
