Albay gov’t opens new animal pound

Through the initiatives of Gov. Al Francis Bichara, the Provincial Government of Albay inaugurated the Albay Animal Pound (AAP) in Paraputo, Malinao.

The Albay Veterinary Office spearheaded the inauguration recently.

“The newly launched AAP aims to take care of the well-being of stray, abused and neglected animals while maintaining the health and safety of human communities in the province,” the Albay provincial government said.

” This project, conceptualized by Gov. Bichara himself, was also an action taken after the Albay Ordinance for Responsible Pet Ownership authored by Board Member Neil Montallana was passed in June 2020.” it added.

The said animal pound has 200-head capacity animal shelter and has 24 kennel cages which can accomodate by five to six animals.

It also has eight isolation cages for rabies-suspected animals, one administrative office, one stock room for medicines and suplies, and one euthanasia room.
