Drive-thru COVID 19 testing for visitors from outside Bicol coming soon, says Albay Vice Gov. Grex Lagman
Albay Vice Gov. Grex Lagman is glad that the local governments and local legislature are working well amid the pandemic.
Because of this cooperation, Albay will soon open a drive-thru COVID 19 testing center for visitors traveling to Albay and coming from outside the Bicol region, Lagman said in a Facebook post.
This is made possible through the ordinance approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Albay, which will then be transmitted to the governor for his signature, he said.
The drive-thru testing center will start operating on July 30, he added.
He hopes studies will later show that this testing worked, along with contact tracing, to significantly lower the transmission of the virus in the province.
With the executive and legislative working together, Albay will have a better chance of defeating the virus!
“Novel local policies relating to this pandemic are invariably the result of good working dynamics between the local chief executive and the local legislature.
Last 14 July 2020, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Albay (SPA) passed Provincial Ordinance No. 0024-2020 calling for the creation of a Drive-Thru Testing Center. As of yesterday 16 July, the ordinance has been transmitted to the Office of the Governor for signing.
Based on record, this will be the first of its kind in the Philippines. There will be mandatory rapid testing of all passengers traveling to Albay who have points of origin and/or come from outside the Bicol Region (Region V). The drive-thru testing center will be operational on 30 July 2020.
Hopefully, after this pandemic, scientific studies will show that this health protocol worked to complement effective contact tracing and significantly lowered transmission rates in the province.
God bless Albay! God bless the Philippines!” Lagman posted.
