Gov. Escudero leads Sorsogon’s Independence Day rites

A time capsule was buried under the base of the statue of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal in Sorsogon as part of the Independence day celebration in the province.

Governor Francis Escudero led the momentous activity yesterday which was also attended by ranking officials of the province.

“Dinaluhan ang nasabing okasyon ng mga elihidong opisyal ng provincial government, mga hepe ng mga sangay ng gobyerno at mga empleyado ng lalawigan,” said the Capitol.

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) also recognized as Historical Icons/Sites the Sorsogon Provincial Capitol building and the Rizal Monument.

The time capsule contains the history of the province of Sorsogon which will serve as a guide for the future generations.

“Isang time capsule ang ibinaon sa base ng rebulto ni Rizal na naglalaman ng mga kasulatan ukol sa kasaysayan ng lalawigan na magiging gabay ng mga hinaharap na Sorsoganon,” said the provincial government.
