Albay Capitol teams up with Diocese of Legazpi to help Albayanos recover from COVID-19


The Albay Capitol and the Diocese of Legazpi has partnered to provide assistance to Albayanos amid the coronavirus disease pandemic.

The Provincial Government of Albay and the Diocese of Legazpi headed by Bishop Joel Z. Baylon joined into partnership to pursue humanitarian and development work to help Albayanos in various areas.

This includes health and nutrition, sustainable agriculture and fisheries, livelihood, and social protection.

According to the provincial government, the program is committed to provide the following, among others:

▪︎ Supplemental feeding to malnourished children aged 5 years and below;

▪︎ Livelihood activities in the barangays through microfinance, small scale and medium scale farming, access on basic goods through sari-sari stores (among other economic activities);

▪︎ Facilitate psycho-social intervention to individuals and communities traumatized by the lockdown;

▪︎ Provide Social Protection to the poor through micro insurance and health maintenance.

▪︎ Provide technical assistance to small farmers and farmers’ organizations. They will be distributed with farm inputs and assorted vegetable seeds for them to grow and serve as additional livelihood and nourishment for the family.
