Sorsogon reports first COVID-19 case
The Sorsogon province has recorded its first coronavirus disease 2019 case.
Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero revealed that the first COVID-19 positive case in Sorsogon is Romegio C. Cruz, a 37-year-old seafarer from Miami, Florida.
Cruz was quarantined at the Matnog Quarantine Facility upon arrival in the province last May 2.
He was later transfered to the COVID-19 Ward of the Sorsogon Provincial Hospital.
“He is asymptomatic and is doing fine,” said Escudero.
The governor said that the first case triggers the protocols of the Province which, among others, include:
(1) immediate contact tracing,
(2) mass quarantining of all with contact,
(3) disinfection of the quarantine facility at Matnog where he stayed,
(4) and giving of Vitamin C and information dissemination to all with contact or exposure.
