Gov. Bichara orders LGUs to implement evacuation as Ambo moves closer to Albay

Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara has ordered local chief executives to take precautionary measures as tropical storm Ambo moves closer to the province.
As of 5:00 am today, Albay has been placed under signal umber 2 by the The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
“The Province is now placed under TCWS No. 2 by the PAGASA in its Severe Weather Bulletin issued 5:00 AM today, May 14, 2020. Typhoon “Ambo” further intensifies as it moves closer to the province, heavy to intense with at times torrential rainfall is expected in Albay today,” Bichara’s order read.
As such, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council ordered the local government units to comply with the following directives:
1. Initiate local measures and to EXECUTE EVACUATION of threatened populations residing in vulnerable areas, particularly for flooding, storm surge, laharflow, landslide and those whose houses are made of light materials. DOH health protocols on Covid-19 should be followed strictly.
2. Suspension of afternoon work in private and public offices except health personnel.
3. No sailing on sea and no crossing on swollen rivers and artificial pools of water.
4. To monitor the implementation of this order and submit immediate evacuation report to this office for consolidation.
As of 5 am today. Ambo has further intensified as it moves closer to Northern Samar.
