Kaunti na ang seatmate, says Cam Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte
Because of the quarantine and need for physical distancing, the House of Representatives’ cavernous session hall is only a quarter full even after session has resumed.
Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte is feeling the emptiness.
In a Facebook post, he said only 25 members were present in the hall while others joined the session via teleconferencing.
Work continues, even committee hearings, he said.
Despite the COVID 19 health crisis, lawmakers have a duty to the nation!
“Today we resumed session in congress. This is now the #newnormal only 25 members physically present while the remaining 276 members present participated through teleconferencing #zoom. Commitee Hearings will continue despite the ECQ and the pandemic. Members of congress still have to fulfill their constitutional mandate and duty despite the challenges and risk. #villa40✌️,” Villafuerte posted.
