‘Calida left the conversation:’ Albay VG Lagman shares summary of issues hounding ABS-CBN franchise


Albay Vice Governor Edcel Grex Lagman has shared a bullet by bullet summary of the circumstances surrounding the expiration of ABS-CBN franchise.

The legislative franchise of media giant ABS-CBN Network has expired yesterday.

According to the vice governor, the bullet-by-bullet account re ABS CBN franchise:

*National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) gave ABS CBN a provisional permit to operate while its application is pending in Congress.

*OSG’s Calida fumed and threatened to sue its client, NTC.

*DOJ Secretary Guevarra stepped in to resolve the conflict between client and lawyer as provided for under the Revised Administrative Code.

*Secretary Guevarra upheld the provisional authority given by NTC in favor of ABS CBN.

*Sol Gen Calida left the conversation.

The Office of the Solicitor General earlier sought the revocation of ABS-CBN’s franchise through a quo warranto proceeding before the Supreme Court.
