Naga City Mayor Legacion tested negative for COVID-19


Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion announced today that he tested negative for the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Legacion said that he underwent swab testing last April 22, Wednesday.

“After releasing the result of the swab test on Patient Bicol #26, Doc Butch Borja came to me saying that because of our exposure and of our role in the fight against COVID19 I, together with him, Divine and Malou of the Epidemiology Unit had to be swab tested. He also said that this was the advise of some BMC doctors as a necessary precautionary measure,” said Legacion.

“At about 6pm I thought of not coming home because if I was carrying the virus, I would be infecting my wife and my children. I know that our health workers and other frontliners have also the same concern. But we have to go on, do our best and leave everything else to God,” he said.

His results came back negative yesterday night.

“And late yesterday eve, April 24, the laboratory results came out showing that we all tested NEGATIVE. The news was first broken by Dr. Joey Rañola. Asin an text sako ni Doc Butch: “Sir salamat na maray ta negative kitang apat na Divine saka si Malou,” Legacion said,

“My wife and my children as well as the key members of the IMT were likewise thankfully pleased with the results,” the Naga Mayor added.

With his “renewed spirit,” Mayor Legacion said that he will now continue to serve his fellow Nagueños.

“And so, on this beautiful day, with a renewed spirit, intensified resolved, a peaceful mind and a happy heart, I will be going out of our house to continue serving you, my dear Nagueños, greatly hoping that this crisis will end soonest! Let us all pray for this,” he said.
