Mahirap pero kailangan! Albay Vice Gov. Grex Lagman says another lockdown extension possible

Many people are going stir crazy from being cooped up inside the house during the quarantine, but they should brace themselves for the possibility of a longer quarantine.

In a Facebook post, Albay Vice Gov. Grex Lagman said it was possible the lockdown would be extended, especially if authorities decide to exercise extreme caution.

He said ending the quarantine on April 30 could be premature and lead to another wave of infections.

While people want to resume their normal lives, this cannot be done as long as the COVID 19 health threat remains.

He might also favor a modified lockdown.

He would also welcome other possible scenarios on how best to cope while no cure for the disease has been found.

How do we move forward?

“There will be a possible lockdown extension. But if we side with extreme caution, this scenario can be a bitter pill that’ll be easier to swallow. Lifting lockdown restrictions on April 30 may be premature. It can court a second wave of infections.

We all want our lives to go back to normal. We all want to resume working. We all want our kids to be in school. We all want our businesses to start operating. We all want to resurrect our country’s and our respective LGUs’s economies.

But all these “wants” depend on solving this health crisis first. I am in favor of modified lockdows. I just don’t know how to start this conversation yet. I am just a local policymaker. I am not a scientist. Any inputs?

Sharing your ideas is a way of saying “i am in control” of what’s happening. And there are strictly no right or wrong answers. Even the experts in international public health circles say that it’s still a “hit-and-miss”/“trial-and-error” environment. Until they come up with a vaccine, all bets are on!🙏😊,” Lagman posted.
