CamSur Rep. Bordado promotes ‘Gulayang Habang Buhay’ program to ward off hunger amid pandemic
Camarines Sur Rep. Gabriel Bordado, Jr. is promoting the “Gulayang Habang Buhay” to ward off hunger and malnutrition amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“In this season of COVID-19, “Gulayan Habang Buhay” is proving to be an effective tool to ward off hunger and malnutrition in the 3rd district of Camarines Sur,” the congressman said.
Bordado said that his office launched this project way bakc in 2017 with the backing of the Department of Agriculture.
“:During the first quarter of 2017, my office, with the support of the Department of Agriculture (DA), launched this program aimed at promoting CONTAINER GARDENING–or the practice of growing vegetables in
plastic bottles, pots, boxes, tubs, baskets, tin cans, barrels or hanging baskets, among other things–at home and in school grounds,” he said.
“The DA, under the leadership of Regional Executive Director Rodel Tornilla, has been supplying the office with seeds and seedlings to insure the sustainability of the program,” he added.
Bordado said that for those interested, they can get seeds or seedlings from District Officer Glenda Villaflores Dasco (+639209640639) or Phine Lomenario Salvino (+639175163811).
