Open your mind to lockdown extension, says Albay Vice Gov. Grex Lagman
As the country enters the fourth week of the quarantine due to COVID 19, Albay Vice Gov. Grex Lagman has asked his constituents to open their minds to a possible extension of the lockdown.
Lagman said in a Facebook post that this could actually be necessary.
He said mass testing and anti-body mass testing are needed before many establishments and operations would be allowed to resume.
But to do this, more days under lockdown are needed, he said.
According to him, the various efforts to contain the virus, such as the lockdown, the testing, and social distancing must be done simultaneously to beat the pandemic.
Let’s understand that the government may need to do these for our own good!
“Maging bukas po ang isip natin sa posibleng extension ng NCR and Luzon lockdowns.
1) Mass Testing and (2) Antibody Mass Testing must be done while on lockdown mode. However, the remaining number of days before the expiration of the lockdown in the NCR and in Luzon (both on April 14) will not be enough to adequately conduct mass testing of PUIs and/or PUMs. Therefore, we should open our mindsets to very possible lockdown extensions.
1. Lockdowns; 2. social distancing efforts; 3. Covid-19 mass testing and 4. antibody mass testing are NOT mutually exclusive, respectively. ALL must be done SIMULTANEOUSLY to beat this pandemic.
Precisely because many positive cases are asymptomatic, the government must also prioritize the purchase of finger-prick blood testing kits in order to undertake antibody mass testing. This test will detect if a person already has the novel coronavirus antibodies,” Lagman posted.
