Capitol says price freeze in effect in Palawan

The Palawan provincial government said that a “price freeze” is currently in effect in the province after the country is placed under the state of calamity.

“Mahigpit na ipinatutupad sa lalawigan ng Palawan ang price freeze sa mga pangunahing pangangailangan at bilihin tulad ng pagkain at mga gamot matapos na aprubahan ng Provincial Price Coordinating Council ang Resolution No. 2020-01,” the Capitol said.

The said measure is titled: “Resolution Implementing Price Freeze on Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities in the Province of Palawan as Recommended by the Implementing Agencies Pursuant to Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade & Industry (DTI), Department of Health (DOH) Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2020-01 In Consonance with RA No. 7581 or the “Price Act” as Amended by RA No.10623 and Other Related Laws, Rules and Regulations.”

The said price freeze will be in effect until the Public Health Emergency and State of Calamity in the province ami the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic are lifted,.

“Kabilang sa sakop ng price freeze ay ang mga bigas, mga pangunahing nabibili sa mga pamilihan tulad ng baboy at manok, marine products, gulay, prutas at root crops. Gayundin ang kape, gatas, itlog, de lata, instant noodles, sabon, gamot at iba pang mga pangunahing pangangailangan,” said the Capitol.

“Samantala, nagsasagawa naman ng monitoring ang Provincial Price Coordinating Council sa lalawigan upang masiguro na walang paggalaw sa presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin sa iba’t-ibang munisipyo sa lalawigan,” it added.

The Capitol said those who will violate the price freeze might be jailed and fined.
