Albay VG Lagman: Freedom of speech is part of human rights
Albay Vice Governor Edcel Grex Lagman said that the freedom of speech is guaranteed under the constitution and that every Filipino is entitled to express himself.
“People… you can never change the way they feel… Or think,” the Vice Governor said.
“Lahat may karapatan magsalita, magbigay ng opinyon. Karapatang pantao natin ‘yan. Pero may katotohanan. May tama at mali. Pa rin. Oo, pa rin. Kahit sa alternate universe mo.,” he said.
The Albay politiko also said that if one feels “okay” despite what is happening in the country, then he or she is an “enabler” of a rotten system.
“Pero sa akin, simple lang: Kung kaya mo sabihin na okay lang itong nangyayari sa bansa natin, enabler ka ng status quo. Ika nga, kunsintador ka ng sistemang bulok. O, wala na akong sinabi, ha? Enabler at kunsintador lang. Period,” Lagman said.
Meanwhile, Lagman also scored the action of the National Bureau of Investigation in going after online critics of the administration.
“Why waste the limited resources of government agencies like the NBI to go after on-line critics? Last time i checked meron pa namang freedom of speech,” he said.
“At ano naman itong kalokohan na “shoot to kill” order?! Ang kelangan patayin ay ang virus. Hindi ang mga tambay. Ayan tayo, eh. Tuliro na naman ang peg. Hindi na alam kung sino ang tunay na kalaban,” he pointed out.
