Masbate Governor Kho orders suspension of collection of household utility bills
Masbate Governor Antonio Kho has issued an executive order suspending the collection of household utility bills amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Governor issued “An Executive Order Suspending The Collection and Payment Of Bills of Consumers Of The Masbate Electric Cooperative (MASELCO), Masbate-Mobo Water District (MMWD) And Aroroy Water District (AWD) Due To The Effects Of Covid-19 In The Province of Masbate”
Under the order, collections and payments of the bills of the consumers of the Maselco, MMWD and AWF shall be suspended beginning today, March 21, 2020 until April 30, 2020.
“No interests and penalties for the unpaid bills mentioned in Section 1 above shall be charged during the said period,” the EO read.
Meanwhile, the termination of services due to non-payment of bills shall be prohibited for the mean time.
“During the effectivity of this Order, NO consumer of the above-mentioned utilities SHALL BE DENIED electricity or water by reason or non-payment of bills,” the order read.
The order took effect immediately.
