Masbate imposes inter-island community quarantine
The provincial government of Masbat has imposed an inter-island community quarantine in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the province.
Executive Order No. 5 provides that “[t]he transport, for free or for fee, by sea or air, of any individual or cargoes, except basic commodities, to any part (ports and shorelines) of the territory of the Province of Masbate shall be prohibited.”
The following are the guidelines for the inter-island community quarantine:
a. It shall be prohibited for residence of Mainland Masbate to go to the islands of Ticao and Burias;
b. It shall likewise be prohibited for residence of Ticao to go to the islands of Burias and for the residents of Burias to the islands of Ticao;
c. Residents of Ticao and Burias Islands may travel to Masbate island, provided the following conditions are complied with:
1. The purpose of the travel shall be either to purchase basic goods and commodities or to seek medical assistance only;
2. The ports of entry and departure shall be the ports of origin shall have issued a certification as to:
a. Purpose of the travel (either to purchase basic goods and commodities or to seek medical assistance;
b. Personal details of the patient seeking medical assistance or the patient’s accompanying caregivers and;
c. Personal details of the vessel crew.
