Safety first! Odiongan Mayor Trina Fabic cancels foundation day and Kanidugan Festival
With the confirmation of the local transmission of COVID 19, Romblon Mayors are not taking any chances.
The League of Municipalities of the Philippines Romblon Chapter has issued a resolution canceling all major events that would entail the gathering of large crowds, including fiesta celebrations but excluding religious events.
In line with this, Odiongan Mayor Trina Fabic announced on Facebook that she has canceled the activities for the Odiongan Foundation Day and the Kanidugan Festival.
But she said the mass and sports activities would push through.
If the virus situation improves, she would consider resuming some of the activities, she said.
At this point, safety is paramount!
“The League of Municipalities of the Philippines Romblon Chapter (LMP Romblon) through the Municipal Mayors have issued a resolution cancelling all major events gathering large crowds in the Province of Romblon, effective immediately. This will cover Fiesta celebrations including all activities connected thereto, excluding religious observations. President Duterte has declared a state of health emergency in the country.
Thus, the activities of the 2020 Odiongan Foundation Day and the Kanidugan Festival are hereby CANCELLED. Exemptions are religious activities (e.g. Mass, etc.) and sports activities (no imports allowed). If the situation improves in the next few months we can consider holding some of the events and activities in the future.
Please stay tuned for further details. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” Fabic posted.
