Baby steps! Camarines Sur Rep. Gabriel Bordado relieved at House action over ABS-CBN
Camarines Sur Rep. Gabriel Bordado is openly in support of the ABS-CBN franchise renewal, which was why he heaved a sigh of relief when the House committee handling franchises took its first step toward tackling the issue.
Bordado, in a Facebook post, said the committee finally touched on the network’s application for franchise renewal at its last hearing.
Bordado did his part as he asked the chair to clarify the operational status of ABS-CBN.
He also said Speaker Alan Cayetano and committee chair Franz Alvarez sent a letter to the National Telecommunications Commission asking it to give the ABS-CBN the authority to operate even after its franchise expires until Congress resolves its application.
This will make the kapamilyas happy!
“HOUSE COMMITTEE TACKLES ABS-CBN ISSUE–FINALLY!: The House of Representatives’ Committee on Legislative Franchises (where I am a member representing the Minority) touched on the ABS-CBN’s application for the renewal of its franchise during its latest hearing. I asked the chairman to clarify the operational status of the media network.
Yesterday, Speaker Allan Peter Cayetano and Committee Chairman Franz Alvarez sent a letter to the National Telecommunications Commission enjoining it to give the ABS-CBN the authority to operate (even after the expiration of the media network’s franchise) until Congress resolves its application,” Bordado posted.
