Health above all! Marinduque Rep. Lord Velasco scraps centennial party

0

Marinduque’s celebration of its centennial year is the latest casualty as provinces try to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

A post on Velasco’s Facebook page announced that his office is canceling the Marinduque Centennial Concert scheduled on February 2020.

The event is expected to draw large crowds, and Velasco’s office feels it’s more important to secure the health and safety of its residents.

It cited the Department of Healths memorandum advising against attending concerts and going to public events where the virus could spread to a lot of people.

But despite the cancelation, Velasco’s office assured Marinduque residents that they would find a way to celebrate the province’s centennial in a meaningful manner.

We’re sure the residents understand.

Good health is irreplaceable!

“NOTICE OF CANCELLATION OF CENTENNIAL CONCERT

The Office of Cong. Lord Allan Velasco would like the public to know that due to health and safety reasons, we WILL NOT PUSH THROUGH with the MARINDUQUE CENTENNIAL CONCERT on Thursday, 20 February 2020.

The health and safety of our beloved Marinduquenos is our priority. In light of the Department of Health memorandum advising against going to concerts and public events which may spread the novel coronavirus (nCov) at this time, our Office has decided to cancel the event for now. Rest assured that we will find a more meaningful way to celebrate our province’s centennial anniversary. Thank you for your understanding. Stay safe, Marinduque!,” Velasco’s Facebook page posted.
