Vice President Leni Robredo marvels at trash turned into pretty flowers

Vice President Leni Robredo was happy to see a colorful filed of tulips in Lamitan City, Basilan.

These were not real tulips, though, but artificial flowers fashioned from recycled garbage.

In a Facebook post, Robredo shared that these were created by the city’s General Services Office and the garbage collectors.

They recycled the trash they collected from a cleanliness drive last year.

This is proof that recycling garbage can produce very beautiful things!

“Lamitan City Tulip Garden in Basilan today. These are not real tulips but the handiwork of the City’s General Services Office and the Garbage Collectors. These are actually recycled garbage that they collected out of a Cleanliness Drive they started last year where they gave away school supplies in exchange for recyclable trash. With me in the 2nd picture are the men and women behind this project,” Robredo posted.
