Palawan intensifies measures against African Swine Fever
The Palawan Provincial government is taking its campaign against African Swine Fever to a new heights.
“Mas pinaigting ngayon ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ang pagpapatupad ng Executive Order (EO) na inilabas ni Gobernador Jose Chaves Alvarez na nagtatatag ng Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force on African Swine Fever (ASF) upang maiwasan ang pagpasok ng naturang sakit ng hayop sa lalawigan,” the province said.
With the Provincial Veterinary Office (ProVet) taking in charge, quarantine stations in ports of Cuyo, El Nido, Coron, Roxas, San Vicente, as well as ports and airports in Puerto Princesa were established.
The Provincial Veterinary Office also called for a meeting with the municipal agriculturists regarding the importation of pork from the mainland to Coron.
“Ang meeting ay tungkol sa restrictions ng movement ng mga baboy galing mainland patungo sa Coron kasi ayaw nang tumanggap ng mga baboy mula sa ibang munisipyo, kasi enough ang supply nila at iniiwasan rin ang ASF,” Dr. Darius Pe Mancucang, Veterenarian 1 of the Provincial Veterinary Office.
The ProVet also visited the towns of Narra and Rio Tuba, Bataraza to hold surveillance in the piggery farm where they took blood samples of ducks, chickens and pigs.
