The Cine Europa started in Palawan in 2015 as part of the initiative of the European Union in partnership with the provincial government.

It was also made possible through the efforts of European Union National Institutes for Culture – Philippines, EU Cultural Institutes, Puerto Princesa LGU, Palawan State University, Film Development Council of the Philippines and malls in the city.
