Over 200 international and local cyclists from various bike organizations have joined the Padyak Para sa Kalikasan 2019 held in Puerto Princesa.
The event started in SM City Puerto Princesa until Yamang Bukid Farm in Barangay Bacungan, Puerto Princesa City.
“Pinangunahan ni Ambassador Thomas Wiersing, Chargé d’Affaires, European Union Delegation to the Philippines ang 29-kilometer fun ride,” the province said.
Wiersing, in his message, highlighted the importance of the said activity to show that biking is an alternative mode of transportation.
“Through this activity, we want to promote cycling as an alternative mode of transportation and to give environmental awareness to Palaweños. We want them also to engage in tree planting activities as part of our responsibility to mother earth,” he said.
Among the bike organizations were Fifty Three Hundred, Amateur Cycling Association of Palawan, AlMechRide, B4h, Bacaltos Clan, Bente-bente, Bike for Health, Bike for help, Bike for life, Bikers, Bikers for Christ, Blue Lagoon Suites, Bomalabs, Capitol Bikers, Downhill-Enduro Palawan Riders, GBC Bikers, Iloilo Team, Kulit Bikers, Midcity bike shop bikers, NAVFORWEST Mountain bikers, open biker, padyak boys, Palawan Fat U Brotherhood, Paleco, Phat Boys bike group, PMTBSI, SPMCS, Tandikan Bikers, TCC, Team Agila Bikers, Team Iloilo and USP.
“Bukod sa cycling, nagsagawa rin ng tree planting, palarong pinoy, cultural dance, boodle fight, at immersion kasama ang mga magsasaka sa Yamang Bukid Farm-Palawan,” the province said.
“Ang Padyak para sa Kalikasan ay bahagi ng aktibidad ng Cine Europa na ang pangunahing layunin ay mabigyan ng sapat na kaalaman ang mga mamamayan sa kahalagahan ng kalikasan at mai-promote ang pagbibisikleta bilang alternatibong transportasyon sa lalawigan,” it added.
