Albay Capitol assesses nutrition status of the province

The Albay Capitol, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) held a forum assessing the nutrition status of the province today.

The forum was held at the Governor’s Conference Room, Albay Capitol.

“As part of the discussion, factors affecting nutrition in Albay, as well as the planning and execution of nutrition programs were taken up,” said the province.

“The Health Office also crafted the province’s direction in addressing the issue on underweight among youth. The forum also called the reactivation of the Albay Provincial Nutritional Council,” it added.

Present during the forum were Provincial Administrator Vida Maria Corazon Prollamanste, Board Member Eva Ribaya, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Antonio S. Ludovice, heads and representatives of different departments of PGA.

Meanwhile, Provincial Administrator Vida Maria Corazon Prollamante attended a focus group discussion with employees from Department of Environment and Natural Resources, United Nations Development Programme and Provincial Planning and Development Office.

Prollamante attended the group discussion for the department’s working project on “Implementing the National Framework on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) of Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge in the Philippines.”

“With the support from UNDP, the project aims for effective implementation of the Nagoya Protocol by strengthening the national ABS framework, building national and local capacities, and developing critical experience in ABS agreements. One of the target species for the said project is the Pili Tree,” said the Capitol.
