Marinduque Rep. Velasco mourns passing of former SP Pimentel

Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco has mourned the passing of former Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel, Jr.

Pimentel died on Sunday morning. He was 85 years old.

Velasco described Pimentel as a “brilliant lawyer, and a man of principles even in the face of adversity and trying times.”

“For us Partido Demokratiko Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), the party which he founded, he was not just a member but a game changer that helped strengthened the country’s local government system,” said the Marinduque solon.

Pimentel is known as the father of the Local Government Code.

“We shall be forever grateful for your legacy and contribution in championing democracy, electoral reforms and devolution of powers for stonger local governance,” said Velasco.
