At least thirty Sangguniang Kabataan officials from several Palawan towns have undergone policy development training on sexual and reproductive health and rights.

SK officials from Brooke’s Point, Narra, Taytay, Roxas, Rizal and San Vicente attended the workshop intiated by the Forum for Family Planning and Development Inc. (FFPDI) in partnerhsip with Provincial Health Office (PHO).

The activity was dubbed as the “Policy Development Seminar-Workshop on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for Palawan SK Officers.”

It was held last October 1 to 3 at the Dolce Vita Hotel, Puerto Princesa City.

Kevin De Vera, program associate for training and research of FFPDI, said that the activity aims to train the SK officials in drafting policies about Sexual and Reproductive Health.

“This training aims to build the capacity of our young leaders to develop policies and programs to help address key issues faced by young people such as increasing teenage pregnancy, HIV and AIDS, gender-based violence and unsafe abortion,” de Vera said.

“Likewise, the training aims to provide learning sessions on strategies to communicate health advocacies to their peers in the government and fellow youth,” he added.
