Gov. Dolor leads public consultation on dredging of heavily silted river channel in Oriental Mindoro

Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor initiated a public consultation and hearing on the proposed dredging of heavily silted river channels in the province.
The said consultation aims to inform the public about the methods to be employed by the DENR and DPWH in the said dredging pursuant to the Joint Circular Memorandum No. 2019-01.
According to Atty. Nick Conti, the Oriental Mindoro will serve as a model once the River Restoration Project project is realized.
The said project will be implemented by the DPWH, DENR, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Department of Transportation (DOTr).
“Kaugnay nito, sa konsultasyon dininig at sinagot ng mga konsernadong opisyal mula sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Mines and Geo-sciences Bureau (DENR-MGB) at Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang mga naging opinyon ng mga konsernadong indibidwal,” the Capitol said.
“Ipinaliwanag naman nina Gov. Bonz, mga opisyal ng DENR-MGB at DPWH sa mga dumalo ang proseso ng pagsasagawa ng dredging. Dahil sa mga isinagawang pag-aaral, ito ang nakikitang solusyon kontra-baha,” it added.
Meanwhile, the province said that the public gave a positive response to the project.
“Naging positibo naman sa lahat ng dumalo ang naging konsultasyon na magbibigay daan sa mga susunod pang hakbang ng ahensya upang tuluyan nang maisakatuparan ang proyektong kontra-baha,” said the province.
