Palawan Sanggunian tackles precautionary measures against African Swine Fever
The Palawan Sangguniang Panlalawigan has zeroed in on the the issue of African Swine Fever (ASF) Virus.
The SP has inivited Dr. Benito Del Rosario of the Provincial Veterinary Office during their 9th regular sesssion to shed light on the ASF Virus.
Board Members Ryan Maminta and Albert Rama, in their privilege hour speeches, wanted to know the precautionary measures na taken by the Provincial Veterinary Office to protect the Palawan’s swine industry.
Dr. Del Rosario said that there’s the Provincial Veterinary Quarantine Services that focuses on the transportation of animals within the province.
“Para sa kaalaman ng lahat, yun pong swine fever ay may dalawang klase –ang African Swine Fever at Classical Swine Fever… mas contagious ang ASF dahil 100% ng swine ang tinatamaan…,” Del Rosario was quoted as saying.
“Ngayon pagdating sa ginagawa natin, mayroon tayong na-create na Provincial Veterinary Quarantine Services, meron tayong mga tao sa mga major points of entry sa Palawan –sa Coron, Cuyo, airports at seaports – kaya lang po kulang tayo sa tao…bale ito po talaga ay bantay lang sa mga pumapasok na hayop at ngayon po as early as last week noong pumutok ang balita although hindi confirmed na ASF ay naglabas na po kami agad ng letter sa mga Municipal Agriculturist at Municipal Veterinarians na i-up ang kanilang activities, mas maging vigilant sila sa pagbabantay sa mga point of entries sa mga nasasakupan nila…,” added Dr. Del Rosario
Meanwhile, the Junta Probisyal sought for a resolution asking Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez, through the Provincial Agriculture Office, Department of Agriculture and local government units, to order the intensified implementation of precautionary measures against ASF.
