Palawan Capitol holds Provincial Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week celebration
The Palawan Capitol has successfully held the first ever Provincial Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week celebration.
The event was spearheaded by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
“Tinatayang nasa mahigit 80 partisipante mula sa iba’t ibang munisipyo ang nakilahok sa naturang aktibidad na kinabibilangan ng mga persons with disabilities (PWDs), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers (MSWDO) at PWDs focal persons,” the province said.
Lectures were held during the event led by Romeo Cabungcal, officer-in-charge ng Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), Yanika Seratubias from Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
A representative from PhilHealth was also present to discuss the benefits of the PDWs under the program.
“Nagsagawa rin ng iba’t ibang patimpalak para sa mga PWDs kung saan ay nagpakitang gilas ang mga ito sa larangan ng pag-awit at pagsayaw at iba’t ibang palaro,” the province said.
Meanwhile, the MSWDOs at PWD focal persons underwent a training on the Prevention, Early Detection, Identification and Intervention of Disability Among Children last July 26.
“Ang National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week ay taunang pagdiriwang na isinakatuparan sa buong bansa sa pangunguna ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD),” said the Capitol.
This year’s celebration carried the theme “Lokal na Pamahalaan Kabalikat sa Pagtupad ng Karapatan ng mga Taong May Kapansanan.
