Palawan gov’t spearheads mountain search and rescue training
The Palawan Provincial Tourism Promotions and Development Office is leadinh today the Mountain Search and Rescue Training in El Nido.
The said training will be conducted in partnership with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The said undertaking aims to equip the mountain guides with sufficient skills as regards their jobs.
“Layunin nito na maging handa ang mga mountaineers pagdating sa rescue operations especially sa mga insidente sa bundo. Malaki ang maitutulong nito sa turismo dahil napapanahon ngayon ang pag-akyat ng mga bundok, marami kasing tourism spots sa lalawigan na kasama yung mga bundok natin…”, said Chris dela Cruz from the Provincial Tourism Promotions and Development Office.
The training will include First Aid/Emergency Action Principle, Patient Assessment/ Wound Management, Lift and Carry/ Spine Injury Management, Basic Life Support -Choking Management, Basic Life Support-CPR, Methods of Lifting and Carrying Skills, Bandaging Skills/Spine Immobilization, Health Sanitation, and Personality Development.
It will also feature Duties and Responsibility of a Tour Guide, Practical Tour Guiding Techniques, Tour Spiel Preparation and Presentation Techniques, Oral Presentation/Critiquing, Child Wise Tourism, Costumer Service (Service of Excellence), Equipment Familiarization, Ropemanship, Practical Skills on Knot Tying, Practical Skills on Rappelling, Mountain Scenario Exercises, and Practical Exercises on Mountain Rescue.
The training starts today until July 21 in El Nido and from July 18 to 24 in Taytay tow..
