Albay celebrates LGBT Day as part of Magayon Festival 2019
Albay Capitol has allocated one day to celebrate the Magayon LGBT Day.
Members of the LGBT gathered last May 19 at the Penaranda Park in Legazpi City for the celebration organized by the Provincial Government, through the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO).
“A series of free and confidential HIV screenings were conducted in the morning by volunteers and representatives coming from the Gentlemen Bicol, an advocacy group that aims to fight HIV and AIDS by empowering individuals and communities through sexual and reproductive health education,” the province said.
The event also featured eight delegations from the different cities and municipalities in the province to participate in the Pride parade, which started from the Bicol University Grounds to Penaranda park showcasing LGBT beauties and talents.
“Delegates from Guinobatan, Albay performed their intermission number upon arrival at the venue as they were recognized for having the biggest delegation,” said the province.
Meanwhile, Roldan Bonayon of Guinobatan aka “Bugay” won was adjudged champion during the LGBT night of showdown. Maui Rodriguez of Legazpi City who won 1st runner up and Mr. Marwin Samson was named 2nd runner up.
“The event is in line with the month-long celebration of the Magayon Festival which is celebrated annually in the province of Albay,” said the province.
