Roll-on Roll-off routes connecting Palawan, Mindoro to open next year, says Gov. Alvarez
Everyone should be excited for Palawan as the roll-on roll-off (RORO) routes connecting the province and Mindoro will be opened next year, Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez said.
Alvarez shared the big news as he served as a panelist in the recent Tourism Summit 2019 ng ASEAN Business Advisory Council Philippines last May 2, held in the City of Manila
“I’m asking you to be excited as we are in Palawan, we’ll building a highway from Manila to Batangas and Batangas one hour to Mindoro, three hours to southern Mindoro and [another] three hours you are in Coron and this will be available by next year,” said Alvarez.
Alvarez also said that there will be routes going to Kudat, Sabah and Kota Kinabalu by next year’s end
“Get excited about Palawan. Drive all the way to the equator via our nautical and build highways through Malaysia. That is our invitation to everyone and that will happen before the end of next year.”
He also shared that on going infrastructure programs being implemented to boost Palawan’s tourism
Alvarez also touted the construction of regional airports in San Vicente and Coron. He also shared the plans to build international airports in Taytay and Brooke’s Point.
“One in the north and another in the south. So the North American market can directly land in Taytay and also the north European market can directly … land there,” he said.
In 2018, 1.8 million tourists have visited Palawan.
