Albay holds Livestock Day celebration


The Provincial Government of Albay spearheaded the celebration of the Livestock Day as part of the culminating activity of the week-long 2nd Bicol Agri Expo.

The Provincial Veterinary Services and the Albay Provincial Agricultural Office teamed up to make the Livestock Day celebration possible.

“The Livestock day aims to increase awareness in the growing and care for various farm animals which could be utilized for food and other purposes. It also aims to provide assistance to local growers and producers,” the province explained.

The event featured the Chevon cooking competition, where talented culinary artists rendered different delicious food creations using “chevon,” or better known as goat meat.

5 participants competed for the honor as they presented dishes like grilled chevon steaks with mashed potatoes in goats milk, curry goat, and chevon baby back ribs with pineapple among others

“Another hit attraction at the event was the livestock exhibit area where various animals where put in display. Kids and young at hear will enjoy looking and interacting with the rabbits, ducks, chickens, piglets, sheeps and goats,” said the province.

:The Trade Fair continues to be the crowd drawer as it continues on its fifth and final day. Many of the best local products are still being showcased and available for highly affordable prices,” it added.

Governor Al Francis Bichara also graced the closing ceremony held at the Farmer’s Auditorium.

He led the awarding to participants and exhibitors as well as the top booths and the winner of the cooking contest.
